The River Swale Regeneration Project is a partnership project led by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, and overseen by a steering group of the project partners which are:
Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority

The purposes of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, are "to conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage" and to promote opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the special qualities of the park". In carrying out these purposes, the Authority has a duty to "seek to foster the economic and social well being of local communities". The National Park is administered by an Authority of 26 members, made up of county and district councillors and members appointed by the Secretary of State for the Environment to represent parishes or in recognition of their specialist skills or knowledge. www.yorkshiredales.org.uk

The Environment Agency's is one of the biggest and most powerful environmental regulators in Europe. Its primary aim is to protect and improve the environment and make a contribution towards the delivery of sustainable development through the integrated management of air, land and water.

Salmon and Trout Association

The Salmon and Trout Association (S&TA) is the only UK-wide membership organisation representing the views of game anglers. It is a lead organisation in the National Angling Alliance which is the joint group representing 3 million game, coarse and sea anglers.
S&TA works to influence the management of the water environment, particularly water abstraction. Reduction in pollution is a common aim with the Anglers Conservation Association.
S&TA supports, through the Salmon and Trout Trust, the work of the Game Conservancy Trust (GCT), River Trusts and the Wild Trout Trust.
The Swaledale and Wensleydale Branch of the S&TA is strong in the Two Dales and enjoys the active support of several affiliated Fishing Clubs.

English Nature

English Nature is the government's advisor on nature conservation. It promotes the conservation of England's wildlife and natural features. This is through giving advice, grant aid, designating the most important areas for wildlife and natural features as Sites of Special Scientific Interest and Natural Nature Reserves, implementing English Nature's share of the UK Biodiversity Action Plan in England, and assisting in the practical application of sustainable development. Staff work closely with the farmers and landowners of SSSIs and can offer Wildlife Enhancement Agreements.

Catterick Training Area

Catterick Training Area, (which is distinct from the Army's built estate in the Catterick Area) is an area of woodland, moorland and farmland on the edge of the River Swale. It is used by the army to train its military personnel. The MOD has produced a management plan for the site which looks to provide for military training, while at the same time safeguarding, and where appropriate enhancing the environment.
