The practical actions of the project include:

The development of a River Management Plan.
A grants scheme to promote appropriate land management within the wider catchment and within the riverine environment (finish 2001)
Research into issues affecting the catchment
Training and awareness events
The development of partnerships between the private, public and voluntary sectors [see project partners]

The River Swale Regeneration Project was successful in securing funding from the EU's Objective 5b programme. The 5b Programme funded the scheme to approximately £170K (48%). Match funding was in the form of cash and goods and services in kind.

The project commenced April 1999 and funding ceased in June 2002. The overall value of the Project was £350K. However the momentum built up from the project means that the project is still active in helping everyone have a better understanding of the river and surrounding area.
